Friends of Carey Music Meeting at Carey Donvale
The next Friends of Carey Music meeting will be held at the Donvale campus (9 Era Court, Donvale) at 7.00pm on Monday 16 October.
Parents are warmly welcomed to come along to learn more about the Carey music program across the school, and to contribute ideas. Donvale parents are especially welcomed to this meeting which will focus on the superb Donvale Music program.
Friends of Carey Music (FOCM) is a parent group that supports and promotes the fabulous Carey music program throughout the Kew and Donvale Junior Schools and the Middle and Senior Schools.
Year 9 student Thomas Nheu recently completed his LmusA on Classical Guitar. This is an extraordinary achievement for any high school student, let alone one that is still in Middle School. Only 30% of applicants pass this examination, which requires candidates to present an extended recital program of considerable difficulty with a thorough understanding of the stylistic characteristics of the works.
Mitchell Ward (pictured below) recently competed in the Victorian Bands League with outstanding results. He was awarded first place in the Under 15 and Under 19 Euphonium competition, second place in the Under 15 trombone competition, and a narrow second place in the Under 15 Champion of Champions section.
Congratulations to both of these students on these excellent results.
